How can I get the Windows Security box to appear when I hit ctrl-alt-del for win. xp?

win xp security

same as above. I wanna try doing this so when I hit ctrl-alt-del to temporarily exit out of the full screen game, MapleStory, I can just choose to go to the task manager and avoid a blue screen of death. Hence I can have the game still run but do some other things on the computer when I have to. Thanks!

P.S It looks similar to this, but as an XP version.

for those who play ms i tried alt-tab…but that generally brings up the blue screen of death…but for some reason on another computer using the security box method I described it works fine every time.

‘Invalid system disk’ after re-installation Win XP?

win xp installation

Hi, after I reinstalled an ACER Aspire T180 I get the message ‘invalid system disk’. I do not have any disc etc in it. I rebooted it and pressed F12 and change to boot from HDD. Same message. If I open BIOS it says: IDE Channel 0 Master (my DVD-R), IDE Channel 0 Slave [None], IDE Channel 2 Master [my HDD] and IDE channel 3 Master [none]. Don’t know whether this is important. I tried to boot from CD but it just starts to install XP again. Can anybody help me please? I am desperate because I need my PC.

Windows XP Won’t Boot, video driver?

Friday 17 February 2006 @ 5:13 am
win xp drivers

The system won’t boot after a blue screen that said something about the video adapter. I tried all the options under F8 when you boot and nothing will get into Windows. If I try just safe mode, it stops listing all the drivers its gonna load with something that says ‘mup.sys’ or something close to that, then it reboots. How do I get it to boot to Windows so I can try to update the driver? I’m pretty sure it’s a video driver for either the card or the monitor. Device manager had a question mark next to the display device right before it blue screened.

Would trying to put a different monitor help to get into Windows?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated, I need to fix this computer tonight.

Can I install the ethernet card from a PC with Win98 into one with Win XP?

win xp drivers

I have a PC that I bought from a local dealer who gets his hands on computers from schools and businesses. I just noticed that it doesn’t have an ethernet port. I have an older computer with Win 98 on it, and I was wondering if I could just remove it and install it on my newer PC. Will it pick it up automatically? Or will I have to find drivers for it?
The ethernet card came with the PC when I bought it like 7 years ago. I don’t even know how I would get the drivers for it.
