I assume that the sony driver will give better preformance. Can tell not running at optimum. I ionstalled driver from web but the computer still runs on generic pre installed driver. I erased the driver and started up and still goes to this. Any tips. Or should I just run on the generic driver and not worry about it.

Can I still activate Windows XP if my motherboard crashes and i replace it with another brand?

xp crashes

Recently, my motherboard crashed without any replacement available. I would like to know if my Windows CD OEM is now useless. Based on what I understand, a hardware profile is created and registered with Microsoft.Correct me if I’m wrong, but i think it’s the hard drive, motherboard, and video card. If my motherboard fails, can i buy the same mobo without having to buy another copy of Windows? Do I need to contact microsoft directly?

- I try to access the other computer from a computer, I get the dialog box for connecting. I don’t want this dialog box to appear.

I used to connect computers without having this problems. I don’t know whats the problem now.

win xp installation

A neighbour asked for my help. He bought a while ago a second hand pc with win xp. Though they bought it from a computer shop, they did not get the cd of xp. Now I wanted to reinstall xp on their pc and used the activation code on the site of the pc. That code was not accepted. My neighbours always used windows 2000 and liked it. They were using xp because it was on their pc, but did not really like xp. They have a legal copy of win2000. I therefore decided to install win2000.
When rebooting pc from cd-rom cd win2000 was not found, and the message appeared,……. restart installation……..
and asked for de winxp cd. How can I now format my pc so I will be able to install win2000.

Is there a way to by pass it so I can access the server? Right now all the computers are set up to be the same workgroup (connected through a router). I can see the other comps in the network but can not access them. This computer can not see the Server At all. Please help! Any comments would help! Thanks.

Window XP goes haywire after live updates fixes security holes?

Thursday 20 July 2006 @ 2:21 pm
win xp security

Can anyone tell me why this happens? My Dell Laptop computer caught some viruses I couldn’t kill then I decided to re-install the whole OS with the recovery disc. Because it replaces the computer into Windows XP (SP1) and when I started using the online live update lots of security fixes, up untill it askes to download SP2, the computer won’t work properly anymore! I can’t shut down properly (resort to force shut down), the first 2-3 minutes when I turn on the computer everything looks normal but then it freezes, I can move the mouse curser, and turn on & off caplocks lights, but can’t get XP to shut down or open any other programs. I want to know if I can still upate the security fixes this way (I have re-install Windows three times already to find out why), hope someone is knowledgeable to help me, please!!!
The re-installation does format the whole harddisk before installing the new Windows XP. So it must be the live updates fault!!!
