I have win xp on my wifes computer but the hard drive is too small. I have another hard drive that I want to use but I don’t know how to transfer win xp to use the new drive instead of the existing one. I don’t have the original xp disk.

Recently my computer kept rebooting, so I decided to reformat my disks and reinstall windows xp. (I do not have recovery disks)
But when installation is at about 40-50%, an error massage came up and said file can’t be copied. There were a lot of files that can’t be copied and if i skip them, xp won’t install properly.
I’ve tried to install it on another hard drive, but the result is the same.
Then someone told me this could be a RAM problem and possibly need to replace my RAM.
However, I don’t have an OS installed since I reformatted all my disks. Is there any way to check for RAM error without logging into windows?

Also I have NO Active X bar at the top of the screen. How do I fix my computer, so that it allows me to download Smiley Central and stuff with Active X?? Step by step instructions would help as I’m a bit of a computer dunce hahahaha. Thanks
Okay, Thanks for the advice so far. I have decided against Smiley Central, as I’ve heard many bad things about it. But can someone please tell me any *other sites* where I can get emoticons for my MSN & Yahoo Messengers. Is there ANY safe to use??? If so, which ones ?? They will also HAVE to be completely FREE. I’m not in a position to subscribe to *pay* sites.
Thanks

My system is Intel P4 processor 541 with HT Technology includes Intel Extended Memory 64 technology(3.20Ghz,800Mhz FSB,1MB L2cache).The installed OS is Windows XP Professional SP2.One of a system analyser(Tuneup utilities 2007-System advisor)suggest me:Your computer has a 64 bit processor, but your current windows version only uses 32 of the available 64 bits. You should consider upgrading to windows XP Professional x64 to benefit from improved security and better ststem performance. How can I obtain such a OS and inform me the what to do.Please assist me.( a well experienced person with Windows OS.)

I mean to say that, recently i have upgraded my Notebook from win Xp to win Vista. As everyone knows, it created a folder in the primary drive, named windows.old. This folder contained all the data from the old win XP installation. My issue is to make use of the programs that are present in the windows.old folder.
appropriate answer would be greatly appreciated.

And yeah, i have checked my firewall (NetVeda Safety .NET) settings. They are not, seemingly, the source of this problem because earlier, everything worked good. Now, i can’t even download anything from the official MS web site. Also, so you know, Windows Update is not set to automatic.I have tried to go the other way around too, that is enabling them totally, but still no luck.

I have SuperAnti Spyware, and unsurprisingly, it could’nt be updated. Can i go back to SP2 without losing my stuff,if i back up the registry and Documents?
