    15 minutes is fast.
If you had to re-install everything manually (including the drivers), it would take around 1 1/2 hours.

Of course, it is possible to make an image of a Windows hard drive, so if you installed Windows & everything that way, it would take a lot less time. Maybe the same time as your recovery discs.

Well, you are lucky. I am still struggling with it. All because I had Norton Sysworks 2006 which really caused havoc. It is the worst software in the world. It was hogging my computer’s resources and slowed down mine so much, I uninstalled it.
That caused problems with my XP Pro. Even the system recovery won’t do the job. I reformatted the disk, reinstalled XP and all the app. programs and related data. It took me a whole day.

So, your case is fast, I must agree.

Norton software…………arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh. I hate this program….. I just hate it. Don’t ever buy this program.

OK.. you just did a system recovery.. that doesnt take very long and you dont loose your personal files either. The size of the HD doesnt make any difference either. It is the size of your Operating system that determines how long it takes to install. Lots of things to think about.
It is the Full destructive recover that restores your computer to factory settings and you loose everthing that takes a lot longer.

If it only took 15 minutes, then you didn’t do a complete restore, which would have wiped out the contents of your hard drive when it formatted the hard drive. Then, re-installed Windows XP.

It should have taken you at least 1.5 hours or more, and any data files you had on the system before would have been gone when you were done. Then, once you connect to the internet you need to pick up all the updates, which depending on your connection type/speed to the internet could take several hours or a very long time if you are using a dialup connection. Regardless of which type of internet connection you have you will have to run the Windows update a few times and reboot in between, because some updates need to have the system rebooted after they are installed.
