Once you install a fresh copy of Vista on it you can no longer use the recovery disk, it will only restore back to factory settings if it is set up to do so in the boot sector of drive C, to use your DriveD(Recovery) to restore your system. You are kinda out of luck to restore it to factory defaults now unless you send it back to Dell. That being said your best bet now assuming you don’t want to run XP on it would be to repartition your hard drive to a single drive, format it and install VISTA Home Premium on it, go to support on dell.com and download all of the drivers and install them, if you do this everything should work except your media direct button next to your power button. If you want that to work there should be a instruction sheet with what to do with your media direct reinstall dvd. Good luck.
