Windows XP information



i got no sound on computer chkd s/card drivers etc any help would be appreciated?



i had my computer cleaned proffesionaly and windows xp re-installed, the ocmpany now gone bust. computer is ok aprt from i have no sound at all. i have checked the drivers and there is no conflict in hardware, sound card etc are all ok. the back up disc i was given only has xp sp1 and then has been updated to sp2 and couple of other upgrades, could my no sound problem be something to do with bios setting being out of date, i dont understand this side of things and would try to change etc unless i had instruction, this is the only other thing i can think of that could be wrong with my sound please can anyone help ……

    One of the first things I would try is to go to the device manager, delete the sound card and then restart your pc, it will reinstall the soundcard from scatch, this solved a similar problem on a friends pc

    In this day and age, it’s very unlikey to the the BIOS/IRQ’s.

    Rather the the OSI model in it’s loosest form, and I apologise for asking this, but are the speakers plugged in.

    Always look for the ‘cable’ not plugged in first option.

    If not, go to control panel, sounds and check the simple, obvious settings, like ‘mute’.

    You do not want to be mucking about with the BIOS unless you really have to.
