I have a lot of IE and XP security updates listed in Add/Remove Programs. Can I remove them after they are installed?

am lso having the same router and the download speed is only 15kB/s. i use bsnl 500 combo plan. have eset smart security and win xp sp2. if anyone of you have found a method to solve this problem tell me please.
i tried many settings but it is not working proerly. also am using usb because there is no provision for ethernet. please give me optimal settings.

Toshiba Satellite a/105 sound stopped working after win xp repair..i tried downloading the driver on toshiba website but it says there is no mixer…any ideas….thanks
i tried getting the driver from toshiba and it doesnt work and i have no cds for it

Pentium 4 Win XP (SP2) – Powers on OK, Windows Starts up OK, I log-in and see my desktop – a second or two later the image goes verry blurred/sliced and the machine locks up.
What I’ve tried:
1) Changed Video Card
2) Changed RAM
3) Re-loaded Win XP (Yes, It’s a legal copy) on new hard drive.
4) Updated Video Card Drivers
5) Re-Flashed BIOS
Anyone have any ideas ?
Further Info -
1) I have tried several different monitors.
2) It only happens when the PC is physically cold… after a couple of re-starts the PC works fine !!! – It also only occurs in winter – not summer !!

I’m using Verizon’s Internet Security Suite which contains anti virus and anti spyware along with a firewall. I wish to set the system for scheduled scanning. I’m using Windows xp.
1) How often should I scan for viruses and spyware?
2) A scheduled scan won’t take place if my pc is off.
3) Will it run if the pc is in hybernation mode?
4) Any drawbacks to leaving my pc in hybernation mode when I’m not using it instead of closing down all pc stuff
4) If yes to question #3 ~ what are the drawbacks?

I carry out the wireless network set up wizard on my desktop which has a D-Link DI 524 router on it, then when I do the whole USB drive into the Laptop thingy the only connection that it can find is the unsecure ‘default’ connection. This is driving me nuts!!
