I’m currently using an ethernet cable to connect the two computers together. I’m wondering what I have to run on each PC to make them recognize each other, be able to share files, and most importantly, have the 98 machine be able to connect to the internet.
My setup is as follows: My main PC, the Windows XP one, connects to the internet via a router. I want the 98 PC to be able to connect to the XP machine and also get internet.
Can anyone help me?
My internet connection is Verizon DSL. I am 100% sure this will work because I’ve done it with friends, I just can’t remember how.

When I ran SpyBot one of the items to fix was “Windows xp security Center disabled. I clicked to fix. I rebooted the compuer and when I went to Control Panel and clicked on Security Center, it opened and said the Security Center did not start. It said to reboot or Start the center. I rebooted but it still would not start. Other than to reboot, I don’t know how to start it. I had recently uninstalled Norton anti virus and installed AVG anti virus. My other computer is fine.(same unintalll and new installation of AVG)
Any help would be appreciated

I’m using a dell Laptop (windows xp) with wireless card that uses the wireless network in my home. Most of the time when I go on the internet, it will disconnect when I click a link and then reconnect immediately, with the little voice balloon coming up to say it’s connected.
I get the same results whether the firewall is on or not. I have all the right tcp/ip info & passwords…
I’ve already tried un and reinstalling everything, including explorer, I’ve reset the connection from the hub and reset the hub many times.
Windows is not finding any hardware or program conflicts either.
Please somebody help me!

I have 4 20Gb partitions on this converted USB HDD and previously all 4 could be detected. However, after upgrading to win XP service pack 2 and installing a few security patches, I always only manage to detect the same 2 partitions with the other 2 being seen as generic storage partitions but without a drive letter assigned to them. As such, I cannot access the data. Is there anything I can do short of popping the HDD back into a system again? I only have a Laptop at the moment. Thanks
its an IDE HDD and the funny thing is that all 4 partitions were previously detectable when i first converted it to an external USB. Now only 2 partitions are visible.

Hi folks,
I got Dell #1505 Laptop and have my windows corrupted. I got the Windows XP pro SP2 reinstallation CD from Dell(Only one CD). There’s no separate Device Driver CD from Dell. I got a few spywares on my PC which I couldnt remover using the spyware removal tool. Do I need to back up all the drives before I try this re-installation CD?
Can I go ahead format my C:\ drive and reinstall Win Xp Pro from Dell reinstall CD? If I can do like this then what about the drivers? Do anyone of you have any experience in doing so?
Thanks
Surya
