I have installed a MS SQL Server instance in Win XP in my client’s system. Now I want that nop except me can access the databases in the Database server. Can I stop the integrated security of Win XP to access MS SQL Server?
I don’t want that anyone except me can modify the database stored in MS SQL Server 2000. It can be achived by using logins and paswords of SQl Server, but using WinXP’s integrated security feature to login to SQL Server, it can be bye-passed. So memeber of Administrator Group of WinXP can still access the database.
I think I got a bad Windows update yesterday or the video driver went bad, thats what it saying on the Blue screeen.
How does one get it to boot up to change some settings so that it will boot up either in safe mode or normally.
Thanks.
hello,
i have a problem with my usb drivers I think. Whenever I try to plug a digital camera or mp3 player in it tries and asks me to install drivers. I think that Windows XP normally should have generic drivers for this? I tried to install the drivers from the mp3 player CD and it says that these are not the right ones.
I have an ECS K7S5A Motherboard with USB 1.1 and Win XP SP2.
On my Notebook the devices work without problems and without installing extra drivers.
I deleted the USB Controllers in the device manager and reinstalled it and it didn’t help.
i went to driverguide already. nothing interresting was there. its not about the mp3 player drivers. normally usb removable hard drives should work without installing extra drivers I think?
As I said. On my Notebook I simply plug the camera and mp3 player in and copy the files. On the desktop pc it asks to install extra drivers but none work.
I already reinstalled the usb drivers from my motherboard manufacturer but it didnt help…
Im formatting my computer today and want to install Windows XP on my Wester Digital 80gb Sata HD but before when Ive tried to do this the hard drive does not show up under the list of hd’s that xp can be installed on even after trying to install the drivers through floppy. I end up being forced to use my 40gb IDE as the windows HD and my WD as the back up. Any clues on how to fix this problem so I dont have to use my IDE any longer?
I HAVE TWO PC ONE IS WITH WINDOW XP PRO AND OTHER IS WIN98 SE . AND I CAN’T ACSSESS MY WIN98 MACHINE FROM WIN XP PRO . I HAVE CONNECTED BOTH THE MACHINE THROUGH LAN AND SWITCH
So I have a new NAS Drive, however i cannot transfer to via wireless as it causes my XP machine to crash:
Setup:
New NetGear Range Max Router
1 XP machine wireless
1 XP machine cable to the router
1 wireless printer
1 NAS drive cable to the router
What I have tried:
- Copying from the cabled XP drive to NAS drive is fine
- Can map drives on wireless XP
- Can access mapped drives on wireless XP
- If I copy either from wireless machine xp gui or command prompt after 2 or 3 files either crahses / not responding message
I am running Mcafee Anti Virus – I have turned the firewall off – did not improve anything! Not running Windows Firewall
Turned Web Client Services Off – did not improve anything!
My Wireless is currently connected at 108Mbs -> Good
I can ping the NAS drive (both IP & name) and can access all the shared folders on it
I am using dchp not static IP address – i don’t think thats the issue
I can see there is a wireless issue… any help would be greatly appreciated as i’ve been struggling for hours!
Thanks for your quick response.. i have checked event log nothing seems unusual (going back the past couple of days) in there a few DCOM errors and a couple of DCHP errors, when an IP was assigned.. (but have not had any internet problems the last few days)… i have the latest version of the drivers… and couldn’t get the dump to produce any results?!?
Could it be that I am using netgear program to connect to wireless rather than XP?
Switched over to XP wirless – no difference…
Basically it manages to copy 2-3mb then it just gets stuck… this is not my network connection dying as i can still access the net wirelessley
Ok.. definately a local computer related issue, just tried copying files from wireless PC to cabled PC and it crashed out after 7.97 Mb. the wireless icon just stopped flashing…
Copy from XP cabled machine to wireless XP machine works fine
removed wireless security… still no luck.. this time it managed to transfer 1.23 Mb before getting stuck….
I want to connect my mobile 6610 to my PC and then want to use Nokia PC suite. I installed Nokia PC suite but it is not recognizing the cable. So i installed the driver DKU-5 in my PC. My PC runs in Win XP SP2.
But even after installing the driver for this DKU05 cable, it is showing the message “Found new hardware wizard” and i am not able to connect my mobile with my PC. After installing the driver, i have looked into the device manager window. But there is no change there.
Do i need to install someother stuff in order to make it to work?
