How do I install Windows XP drivers manually, without using the installation wizard at all?

win xp drivers

I have a belkin wireless-g desktop card. It worked fine on my old computer. I got a new dell, so I took it out of the old one and put it into the new one. The card is F5D7000, version 2000. I got the right drivers from the Belkin website, but the drivers won’t recognize. I tried other versions but still nothing.

I directed Windows XP to the folder where the drivers were at (”C:\Program Files\Belkin\Belkin Wireless-G connection configuration utlity\drivers”) and it still wouldn’t install.

There are three files in the driver folder. A .sys file, an .inf file, and a security catalog. How can I just install these manually?

Thanks.

Problem with Win XP CD-key during Installation?

win xp installation

Whenever i do a system restore, my Acer 3210 recovery disc copies the ghost image from the disc to my acer Laptop hard-disc. However, the filesystem used in the image is FAT32.

I want a NTFS system and thus, I used fdisk to format the drive using NTFS format and used a Win XP installation CD to install the OS on my own. When it came to the page where i need to key in the win xp cd-key, i keyed in the genuine xp cd-key that was found on the win xp sticker which was stuck to my Laptop.

The key was rendered invalid by the installation. What can I do to overcome this problem?

My computer is missing a driver, and it won’t run Windows XP unless the driver is repaired. I read that if you have the Windows XP CD that you can repair it, but my computer didn’t come with it. How would I go about getting one. I just need to reeinstall windows onto my computer. Could I get a CD from the internet?

Where does one find 64bit XP drivers for a 64bit XP on a mx3414?

Saturday 24 November 2007 @ 3:22 pm
xp drivers

I have installed a 64bit XP on my Gateway mx3414 Notebook but cannot find compatable drivers. I can find them for the 64bit vista but not the XP. I tried the ones available for xp on the Gateway site for my system even though they don’t specify 32 or 64 bit and they failed to install with a message implying that they may not support a 64bit OS.

Any Ideas?

I dont know where to go to find “local security polices” to enable automatic administrator login to the recovery console so I can repair windows with the XP recovery cd. My problem I get prompt “wrong password” to repair windows the reason being the manufacturer may have used “sysprep” to preinstall XP wins
Ive been given directions, control panel, click classic view, local security policies. I cant find local security policies. Can you please help.
