yes microsoft word works on windows vista, and i think xp was more user friendly…

Vista is VERY buggy right now. It kinda reminds me of the old Windows 3.XX and Windows 95…

People were avoiding Win95 like the plague until they got the bugs worked out..

MS Works should be compatible for the new OS….

Word should work in Vista. While “clunky” I’ll take WinXP for lack of a better operating system, over an even more “clunky” failure prone OS like Vista.

vista is newer, xp is easier, xp most programs use

I never used the vista but I have been told by alot of ppl in here it’s not worth having. Some say its a mess.

  11. ??Shadow?? - December 24th, 2007 at 3:12 PM

windows XP is faster, vista is CRAPPY trust me, we wasted $200 on a stupid, slow operating system. DO NOT GET VISTA.
my school just wasted thousands of dollars on vista for all of the school computers and we are always getting theses error messages.

Vista is nicer, and prettier. BUT you run into little problems once in awhile with programs that are not compatible with Vista. it gets really annoying when you try to download something that you knwo for a fact worked on your XP, and you download it on vista, and it says “Not a compatible operating system”.

i think they are both very good OS’s

im used to XP, since ive had it since it came out, but in school we now have vista, and its soo different. its a huge upgrade and its much much better, as in faster, and just plain different setup. microsoft word does still work on vista, too.

not all XP programs are compatible with Vista… it is newer but not better. i prefer XP all programs that everyone in the world needs is on XP( unless you use a mac—- they are way better) i have a mac and i run leopard and XP! it is amazing

vista sucks, xp is better, vista is only compatable with what was made for it, and xp is the gateway between old and new software. plus vista means view, the only good thing about it is that it looks nice, but that slow down your pc, makes hotter, and won’t last as long. trust me, don’t get vista.

  16. James H - January 4th, 2008 at 3:28 PM

Vista reqires about 3x the stuff to run, that windows did, If you dont have a TOP OF THE LINE PC. you should NOT get it..

and besides. Vista is crap.. full of security holes, easily suceptable to viruses, and often has software to keep you from burning CD’s…

Dont kid your self. Windows software will never be any good.

    Get Linux, or Mac.

    Microsoft is crap.

You’re better off with XP than vista..

    It’s stable now.

but dont use IE.. get firefox.

Vista has is generally easier on the eyes, but it doesn’t work well on old PCs. If you are thinking about buying it, I would suggest sticking with Windows XP for a few years longer. Windows Vista is relatively new and will probably still have a few “bugs” or problems. Windows XP, to my knowledge, requires less work to set up and does not “lag” or go slowly.

windows xp is the older version and vista is the newer one so u should probably get vista it is more technologically proven to be faster and not get as many viruses

Well the obvious difference is that Vista is the latest operating system offered by Microsoft. The whole reasoning behind Vista though was to provide even better security then Windows XP SP2 does. For home users this is a blessing but for business IT folks this is a nightmare.
It is still in its toddler stages and there are issues like any new operating system. If you have XP stick with it for now, it is still supported for several years and and it will give Microsoft some time to work out the bugs with Vista.

Vista reminds me of Windows ME…..a hurried release that is full of bugs and is bloated. I cut my teeth on an 8088 so I’ve been doing this a while (20+ years) and I MUCH prefer XP over Vista. The fact that Microsoft’s own core products have problems running on Vista is more than enough proof to me to stay away from it. I’m content running on a Mac (recent convert) and running XP on parallels for anything Microsoft related. WAY more stability. And I love the moron giving a “thumbs down” to all of the posters who said they prefer XP. The truth hurts!

vista means view in spanish so Vista’s graphics are well-enhanced.In my opinion, i don’t think there’s much difference in terms of functionality regarding to XP and Vista

  22. bibian - January 20th, 2008 at 4:12 PM

    xp is better.

  23. callum s - January 22nd, 2008 at 5:30 PM

microsoft word does work on vista
ok are admit im on vista home premium only because i got a free copy from microsoft for help testing windows vista when it was in rc1 and rc2 and my opinion is vista is to buggy and has compatibility issues with my software and vista takes longer to start up then windows xp and windows xp is good because its user friendly works with anything u install and is more stable than vista abd it is very secure un like vista but the best operating system in my opinion is microsoft windows xp media center edition 2005 because its got everything i said before and its got media center for my xbox 360, thats why i dual boot xp media center edition and vista sure vista has media center but untill they solve compatibility issues, security issues, speed boot time up and make it more user friendly are allways prefer windows xp media center edition anyday
    hope that helped

I have been using Vista since last January. All I can say about it is that it is “prettier.” If I had to do it over again, I would stick with XP.

Or better yet, buy a Mac!
