I have a USB to Ethernet male to male cable.Would that work to connect the computers together and transfer files? Or would I have to get a USB pc file transfer cable from a store? If I did that would I need software to transfer files? Or does the Win XP computer do all the work with the interface? I just want to transfer some of the important files over to my Win XP before I wipe the Win98 hard drive or just trash the whole thing. As you can tell I’m a total newbie at this.
These are home computers and I don’t have any networking hardware other than the cable below.I don’t want to spend a huge deal of money to set up a network or buy a Flash Drive.

I just reformatted my HD with Windows XP and it’s stick in 4 bit because of the lack of drivers…
It also won’t connect to the DSL. This also needs a driver?
I’m currently using an alt computer and i’m hopping that I can use this computer to download the drivers I need and load them onto my computer.
So! How do I figure out which drivers I need???

when I upgraded to windows xp, I had no problem with the video card and driver, but now starting new with a clean install, windows xp on it’s own says, this driver wasn’t designed for windows xp, and it won’t install it.
what can I do to make it take the driver, I already know it works fine, it just won’t take it.

I have a PC that I bought from a local dealer who gets his hands on computers from schools and businesses. I just noticed that it doesn’t have an ethernet port. I have an older computer with Win 98 on it, and I was wondering if I could just remove it and install it on my newer PC. Will it pick it up automatically? Or will I have to find drivers for it?
The ethernet card came with the PC when I bought it like 7 years ago. I don’t even know how I would get the drivers for it.

Ok I’m using the guidelines found at magicISO, and A XP Pro CD I obtained from school. Ive already setup the “deploy tools”
Now how do I add all the latest updates, and get all the drivers for my hardware to install automatically and unattended,
This will make it easy for my family to re-install Win without all fuss of downloading updates and finding drivers, should something ever go wrong in the future and I’m not here.
Thanks for any help
