How do I figure out what drivers I need for my computer?

win xp drivers

I just reformatted my HD with Windows XP and it’s stick in 4 bit because of the lack of drivers…

It also won’t connect to the DSL. This also needs a driver?

I’m currently using an alt computer and i’m hopping that I can use this computer to download the drivers I need and load them onto my computer.

So! How do I figure out which drivers I need???

it would help if you listed the make and model of your computer or motherboard… check the mfg websites for drivers for your computer (dell,hp,etd) or motherboard (msi, asus, etc).

System Properties>Device manager. Google your motherboard’s make and model. Go to the manufacturer’s website and follow the links to download necessary drivers.
(Usually under Support>Driver Downloads or something)

Here is a brief list of important drivers to install:
Chipset drivers (necessary to enable USB2.0, PCIe, etc)
LAN Drivers (necessary to enable your LAN card to actually work)
    Video & Audio drivers

    Happy hunting

Hi. I had a similar problem when I reformatted an HP Laptop. Go to the manufacturers website and download essentially ALL available drivers, copy them to a Flash Drive, copy and install in your machine. Reboot. Fix any that do not get automatically set, such as some sound systems.

Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - right click on each component - properties - Driver - & write down the copmponent name and Driver Version ( chould be in the form like this 5.0.2183.1)

then you open google and simple type the component with drivers behind it example ACPI Uniproceesor PC drivers and make sure that the latiest drivers proceeds the current one should be a bigger number then teh one listed on your drivers tab

do you have a installation disk with your dsl modem? you amy jsut need to set your dsl account back up, for that your IP provider can step you through it again as youve more then likey deleted there saved content
