how much better is windows xp pro than xp home? is it worth upgrading to it?

I have this big problem on my pc. I want to reformat it because my system is now dirty and it causes to slow my pc and internet speed. In fact my ISP advice me to do reformatting. If you think that i need to have an anti spyware,adware, virus, pc cleaner, ram booster etc to clean any corrupt files, IVE DONE THAT ALREADY. Now that i have back up all my files problem has occurred. My friend told me that i need all the software for my other hardware in order to function after reformatting. I don’t have the CD/software on my motherboard. I think Ive lost it when we move to our old house.
The only one i have is the user’s manual. My friend told me that i need to install AC97 Audio Codec driver in order to have a sound on my pc. which i found out is part of the missing CD.

How important is the CD?
Can i ran my PC without it?
Is their site which I can download it?

My motherboard is PM2M/PM2MP.
socket 478 Pentium 4 Processor.

I first Installed Vista On a Partition of my computer And Later Formatted The partition…..

Now … When ever i boot the system……. I have Dual Boot menu…….. How to get rid of it ??

I think there’s no driver for win XP, then What can i do?

I run Windows XP SP2 with the security center. I also have Symantec anti-virus installed. Every so often the security center little red system tray icon displays and when I check the security center it say’s my anti-virus is turned off. When I check Symantec in the services they are all running and on automatic. Why won’t security center recognize Symantec sometimes.
