I have XP and I have always loved it. I plan to buy another computer and they recommend Vista. Is it better? Is XP going to be replaced eventually with Vista, like XP replaced Windows 95?

Hi, Windows Vista is way better than Windows Xp. If u r buying a new computer then Windows Vista will work excellent on ur machine. The Vista aero interface is nice. It is a lot more stable and Microsoft at least say its more secure than Xp. Vista does have some new security features from Unix such as user account control which mean viruses don’t get complete control of ur system unless u allow them to run unlike Xp which offers them full access. Yes Windows Vista is a newer operating system and will replace Xp. If u like to play games then Vista comes with DirectX 10 and games on that look amazing.

I prefer XP, Vista has many compatibility problems with your existing perifpheral devices and software. If you can get a new PC with XP, I’d go that route, but I think they all come with vista now and that is a shame.
Microsoft Windows XP is so much better all around sweetheart!.
1. Vista is essentially incomplete. XP is much more stable and has all the service packs and such.
You will be much happier with XP professional or XP multimedia or home even…all of which are inexpensive, because they think they will make a killing on their new OS,Operating system> VISTA.
2. Let the people with the money and that want the latest and the greatest-supposedly> make the first investment and learn from their problems over the next 1-2 years.
3. Then, re-evaluate.

I can tell you first hand Windows Vista SUCKS! my pc freezes all the time.
Vista looks nice but its terrible. Wait to they upgrade it with a service pack.
