why do i have so many resources being shared irq, I/O ports and memory address’s and can it possibly cause any problems, also thought windows was meant to assign individual address’s where pos

i got the driver off of dell’swebsite and tried re-installing the device but during the processi get a messege saying “Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.” i restart and tried again but the same thing happened. idk what to do, can some1 help me…plz?

I downgraded from vista to xp, but acer has no official drivers on its website.

Can anyone teach me how to block sites by using Hosts File in Win XP? I have WiMAX connection. The information about my net connect is the following:

Please note that I have tried this way to block the sites. I went to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
There was a file “hosts”, I right clicked on that and selected open or ‘open with’. From that window, I selected Notepad. I then I just added the IP address I wanted to block, after saving when I checked it in EI, it was not blocked.

After I plugged in the USB cable for new yp-p2 player, winn/xp can not recongnised this device as no drvice driver can be found.
I’ve downloaded that from their web, but that is only the apllication to do the files transfer between your PC and the P2 device. My problem is win/xp does not recognise my P2 and always looking for the device driver for it.
I’m using win/sp SP2 with Window Media player 11, but it still doesn’t recognize my P2. I’ve connected Sansa to this machine as MPT device. May be that caused the problem. But I do not know how to fix it.

on my win xp startup a dialog box appears saying “the file or directory C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\portcls.sys is corrupt and unreadable.please run the chkdsk utility”.After running chkdsk also the error still appears on startup

Keep loosing both D and E drivers. D: is a regular cd rom and E: is a dvd+rw drive. i have restored system, checked boot and it doesnt register in system setup. I can hear them power up, lights are on but no drivers are there.
When i go to my computer local C: is all that shows up. when i put a disk in it doesnt autoplay or anything. Checked the inside and power is connected and ribbon is tight on both drives connected to motherboard. It is not connected to the internet. Dell 3000 win XP 40 GB hd. Help

Basically I have the new win media centre which i would like on my pc which uses windows xp. When I install media centre I know I will have to re-install drivers etc for everything but is it possible to keep win xp on pc as well and have the choice at boot?
This could help me transfer everything across and then un-install xp after couple of weeks.

i have mirascan v3.42 but it only works on win 98 i need drivers for xp
