I am installing windows xp on a new hard disk, and want to get files from my old hard disk with the same windows xp on it. The old hard disk had problems booting windows xp. How can I put both hard disks in my computer and copy the files i want from my old hard disk to the new one without doing anything to mess things up?
I’ve a big problem. I’ve bought a new assembled computer with intel 945 chipset in it. I installed win xp sp2 and tried to install drivers from the motherboard cd, but failed. I tried several times and also tried from net but for no success. my motherboard has realteck sound card..
Plz help me. its urgent.. If any one can provide any sort link or any solution.
Thanks in advance….
I have two bran new xp pro disks, 32X & 64X Ive tried both and I keep getting major issues with my new pc.
When I first loaded it, it went fine… no issues whatsoever. My wife got a virus because X64 doesnt have much AV support, oh well… when I reloaded windows, however all hell broke loose. A few times, it gave me a BSOD on install, with no information on why. It would also say that it could not load a specific file from the disk because it couldnt read it, id hit enter to retry and it would go…
When the OS is finally loaded, it would reboot for no reason. Or a message would pop up saying that something had to be shut down because of an error. Generic Host Processes, and SVCHost.exe mostly. When it would come back after a reboot it would give me the recovered from a serious error, BS and tell me that I had a hardware conflict. I was convinced, it was either the hard drive, or the Cable, but I wanted more opinions, I havent tried a new cable/drive yet. Please give me advice
I didn’t even think to flash the bios… maybe that should be my next step.
It is an E6700 Core 2 duo, supposed to be bran new out of the box.
I originally thought HD because, it was having file access errors, when I thought about this more, my wife got something on there, and thats when everything started happening. So my first stop when I get home is to flash the bios, if that doesnt solve it… then Ill continue
At the Microsoft site an Upgrade Advisor tool said i need to reinstall the Device Driver I mentioned. Where can I get it?

i bought a new 80gb external hard drive. The information says i dont need new drivers since XP has all this enabled but i plug it into the usb port and nothing happens. What is wrong with it? I have plugged it in right.
Everything is 2.0 usb enabled. it seems that there is no driver installed, where do i get the driver from online?
it says the driver is working properly yet the drive doesnt show up in “my computer”
I want to buy Win XP for a computer which will eventually be scrapped for parts or upgraded. I know you can only install one copy of XP on one computer at a time due to licensing. What I want to know is, when I go to build a new computer (with new master HDD) is it possible to “cancel” the install of XP on the old HDD and then install it on a new computer? Does Microsoft allow this? Do I have to go through some formal online process of having the original install revoked? What if the original HDD seizes up and im forced to re-install on a new HDD?
