I now have the windows xp disk that came with my previous HP computer. How do I go about uninstalling the windows vista, from my new computer and then installing windows xp with the xp disk? can anyone give me a step by step instruction, on this? I have the original HP disk, and the windows XP disk that came with the computer. Appreciate any help, Thanks.

I recently installed Win XP Pro on my other computer (Compaq Presario SR2173WM). Previously, I had Win Vista (I hated it). However, the internet is not working on that computer. The computer is not recognizing a connection (I know the NETGEAR is working because the computer I’m using right now is running through the same router). In the device manager, the network adaptor is a “1394 Net Adapter”. Anyone know where I can get the driver to get the internet working?

Under network connections, it says 1394 connection, Connected, Firewalled, 1394 Net Adaptor. I didn’t look here before; seems like it’s connected but internet is not working.

If I install a ATI redeon card in my 780G chipset based motherboards while running Win Xp as OS instead of VIsta will I be able to use the Hybrid technology where boith the integrated graphics as well as the graphic card’s power jointly get utilized.

I am using windows XP oas main system . from time to time I need to use my sceener that have driver to win2K only ( colorScan 3060 by compoint ==> no driver to win XP found ) .
I have install win 2K at my secedry HDD , but the process of transfering from one system to the other system is slow , so I am looking for a way to run win2K from win XP. Thanks

Ok I know that a specific file (“System” in C:WINDOWSsystem32config) is corrupt how can I use recovery module to replace that file from my windows XP CD?
Thanks, I can get to recovery console but how do I actually replace the file with the un-corrupt version of the file from the cd?

I need to lock out some stuff on a WIN XP running computer.

all the USB ports but one
stop acess to the C:/ drive
a scanner that scans all disks like USB,CD,DVD when they are put in.
stop access to Accessibility options, Add Hardware, Add or remove programs, Automatic updates, folder options, Fonts, Game controllers, internet options, Java control panel, Network connections, Network setup wizard, Phone and modem options, Scanners and cameras, security centre, system, windows firewall ( but only for one user)

What needs to be done to my computer to get it to take Win XP or even win 2000. I format the HDrive but it wont take anything other than ME…HELP…mp3 player and phone and camera all need 2000 or XP
