I need a network driver for Win XP 1394 Net Adaptor?

win xp drivers

I recently installed Win XP Pro on my other computer (Compaq Presario SR2173WM). Previously, I had Win Vista (I hated it). However, the internet is not working on that computer. The computer is not recognizing a connection (I know the NETGEAR is working because the computer I’m using right now is running through the same router). In the device manager, the network adaptor is a “1394 Net Adapter”. Anyone know where I can get the driver to get the internet working?

Under network connections, it says 1394 connection, Connected, Firewalled, 1394 Net Adaptor. I didn’t look here before; seems like it’s connected but internet is not working.

The 1394 Net Adapter is not a network adapter; it is your IEEE 1394 (aka FireWire) port.

Go to Device Manager and look under Network Adapters. There should be something like “Wireless Network Adapter” or “Ethernet Adapter”. If there’s a red X over it, right-click on it and click Enable; if there is a yellow exclamation point over it, right-click on it, click on Properties, and update the driver.

You should be able to find drivers on the computer manufacturer’s website.
