I’m trying to hook my guitar to my computer using my sound card. I’ve fixed any latency issues with ASIO4all drivers (that’s fine). My problem is that when I start windows I can already hear the guitar playing without using any additional software (guitar rig 2 is what I’m using). So when I use any kind of software or VST plugins I get the original sound of the guitar (clean sound) along with the effects i’m trying to use. I was wondering if there was a way to get the software to take control of the guitars sound (or line in input of the sound card) in win xp or do they only have that option in vista. It’s frustrating because i’ve searched all over the internet and I know that other people have the same sound card drivers as i have(ac97) and it has worked for them. Any help would be appreciated.

My USB ports suddenly stopped working. I have a legal copy of Windows XP. The Device Manager says my SiS 7001 “Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)” Microsoft won’t help me because I have an OEM copy. The company that made my PC (CyberPower Inc) doesn’t know what it’s doing. The company that makes the SiS 7001 says to use the standard Windows driver. When I try to update the driver, it says that I already have the right one. It worked fine for over a year! I installed an OPTi 82C861 PCMCIA USB controller and it won’t work either. Obviously there’s something wrong with the Windows driver, but I don’t know how to fix it.
READ MY QUESTION BEFORE YOU ANSWER! I already said I tried adding a PCMCIA USB controller and it won’t work either.

Me and my dad are trying to do a duel boot. He installed Debian already and now we went to install XP but the computer wont boot the cd. We have various XP disks but none of them will boot from Cd. He even tryed to configure the BIOS so that it ONLY boots from cdrom, but alas no luck.
Is there any other way we can install XP, or maybe copy XP from another hard drive onto this one?
hes a smart guy and i only know a little big… but im asking for him… so any ideas would be apriciated
