It is an HP dv6000 series. I already checked the HP support site, but they don’t offer any Windows XP drivers for things like wireless and sound. I know all the components should work with Windows XP.
I have a computer running Windows XP and another one running Windows Vista. Is it possible for me to upgrade Windows XP to Vista by linking the two computers together and copying certain Vista files? If so, how?
I put in the XP SP2 and then it says press any key to continue, i do so, then it loads the setup and Crashes, i do not know what is wrong it is making me verry mad. PLEASE HELP!!
A mate told me that I had tons of probs with his PC when he was using a copies of windows he got from the net. After he bought the real thing his PC has been running smoothly. Does that make sense to anyone. My head says that if it’s a pure copy or iso image of the original, then it should work the same???
I can access the internet through both computers but I can’t access one computer from the other. They don’t show up on the other computer. The desktop running XP is wired through a wireless router. The Notebook running Vista Basic uses a wireless connection. The help I’ve read seems to apply only if both computers are using the same edition of Windows. I might be missing the obvious step here so could someone please point it out for me? BTW, the Notebook picked up the router and set up a network for internet access immediately. The desktop had to be reset before it picked everything up. The router is a dlink. ISP is road runner with time warner if that makes a difference. Thanks a lot for any assistance.

Yeah I know it sounds strange. But I have my WinXP cd rom and want to add My SATA drivers to it to avoid using that freakin Floppy every time. (No need to say I will write a new one while holding the other one in its package
This can be used for other cool drivers too! (Just imagine u insert all of ur current up to date drivers to ur cd and it will install em every time u make a fresh install of win XP)
Anway that was all. I know it is possible cuz I’ve seen it in action and now I want to know HOW!!
Any advice will be appriciated.
So adding a folder called “DRIVERS” and copying all files in it was not a bad Idea.
But for the rest of u guys I wanted the drivers to become autorun not to install em from CD myself(even my little dog knows it!!) We use technology to help us not to confuse us! any other suggestions?
Billy shows his computer-illiterate Uncle Rodney how to use the internet.
After backing up my data & system and following the MS knowledge base pre-installation advice I finally went ahead and tried to install SP3 for Win XP Pro.
The update downloaded (about 64 Mb) &did its own system backup. However, about a third of the way through the installation decided to fail… surprise, surpise…
On reboot the system supposedly rolled-back to the previous set-up. However my HDD free space had reduced by about 7Gb!!
Short of having to restore the drive image backup I made, is there any other way of getting this space back? I’ve looked in C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution but the folders come only to 600 Mb in total.
