I currently have windows XP, which is the right one to upgrade?
I meet the system requirements easily and have a dual core, 2 gb ram, 250 hard drive, and 256 DDR3 video.
I ran the upgrade adviser, and everything is perfectly compatible and my computer is windows vista ready.

You don’t need to upgrade. Vista is a downgrade. Why downgrade? Exactly.

Anyway, the first link is for a UPGRADE copy. You can only upgrade from XP to Vista with that, not do a clean install.

Second link: Retail copy. Do whatever the hell you want with it.

Third: OEM, you need to buy hardware with that.

Just grab the Retail Upgrade version. The first on the list.

Windows built in a flaw into the installation software, such that you can do a complete reinstallation, if you wanted to, with only the upgrade version. Send me a message if you would like to do a complete reformat and reinstall.

By the by, I am a Windows Vista Home user and I love the system. Wierd, huh?

I would recommend the OEM copy of Home Premium. The OEM is supposed to be for people who build thier own PCs but you can just get that anyways.

Oh my God, you are a brave sould indeed. Counless others have ugraded to Vista only to switch back to XP in despair. If you want a true, complete, unbiased answer, go to Wikpedia.com and look up Vista. Here is the site.

May the force be with you.

Welcome to the dark side (with vista). Its a great!

Upgrade means you have a version of windows and you want to upgrade to Vista.

The second I guess was the full version. This is the same as the other versions, but you don’t have to have any other versions of windows to upgrade.

The third is OEM. or really is Vista for people that build computers. The reason its cheaper is because you don’t get an technical support from Microsoft. Also really once you install it on a machine its suppose to stay on that machine (never transfer).

Where as if you buy the full version, as long as you delete the old version you can move it to a new machine.

The Full version is the best (if you can afford it, upgrade is fine). if its a new machine of your own, then you can the OEM (system builder) version.

you should make sure the program is compatible your computer. Windows XP is for Laptops so if it is an upgrade make sure you don’t lose any of the features that you were comfortable using otherwise you’re back to square one. Also, make sure you none of your files get lost. Most times upgrade aren’t all what they cracked up to be because it could be just a new color or design on the home page. Good luck, I say go for It It you are cool with the change.
