How do I install XP in a laptop SATA driver that does not have a FDD?

win xp drivers

I own a Dell inspiron Laptop, and I want to erase Win Vi$sta and install XP instead. But the hard disk is SATA, and the required driver is not available in the XP setup disk. Thus when following the F6 install procedure, the installation program asks for the driver in a FDD. This machine does not have a FDD unit.
What do I do?

isn’t it telling you to “connect your HDD“? just go to the bios (press delete when booting) and look for soething talking about sata support (or native sata) or thing like that and try to disable it. don’t worry if things go bad you’ll simply enable it…. but are you sure you can find the drivers for your Laptops on XP? I think you should contact DELL before doing that…. good luck

Get a USB floppy drive. I got mine from eBay for about $15.
    Here is one:

    OR

Get a floppy drive and cable from a friend’s older computer, open up your computer, plug it in and use it to load the driver. When done, return floppy drive and cable to your friend.

    Good luck

You download the driver and burn it to cd. Or you can get a program that integrates SP2 or above into the installation CD. I used it for my PC, but I forgot the name. You can just google integrate SP3 in xp install
