Shortcuts to Internet Explorer 7.0 (microsoft update in program files, e-mail shortcut in windows live messenger, and other shortcuts) to internet explorer will not open (nothing happens)
The shortcuts will only work when an instance of Internet Explorer is already open.

Ok I have a compaq Laptop I have Windows 98 currently installed a while ago I tired 2 update it 2 a Windows Xp Professional but it failed now I try to uninstall it ant it wont uninstall … Well I dont know how to can someone plz help me?

I’v had Win XP-Home edition on my PC for a long time without problems but I need help figuring this issue out :
There are 5 different logon user-accts within my household and as of this morning, 2 of them will not keep the personal settings. Both still have their desktop shortcuts but the background display & screensaver settings are gone and when I reset/apply them….. no changes occur. Their start-up button is cleared out as well. I tried to right-click the programs to pin them back onto the menu but it’s ignored. Also, when I double-click Internet Explorer to go online; it opens as if they are logging on for the first time asking for IE settings, etc…..it doesn’t go to their previously set homepages. Only from those 2 accounts though….the other 3 are okay. (I can still change the display, logon to IE and the homepages are still intact.) I have run every anti-virus; registry cleaner; ad-ware/mal-ware/spyware that I have. They detect nothing! Any ideas for me?Thanks!
Well, after all day of trying to find a solution; it seems as though I will have to delete & reset those user accounts. I have already backed-up their files and such to an external HD. Another question…is there a way to save their IE favorites so that they don’t have to “start from scratch” after logging onto the internet from the new XP accts?

I recently purchased a Philips DVD player that has a USB port on the front for connecting external HD or Memory Stick/thumb drive with DIVX movies. It works great with Seagate 5 GB drives that I have, but I have tons of movies on 250 GB HD and it won’t recognize because it is formatted NTFS. I need to re-feomat to FAT32.

How can I get windows xp to display chinese without changing the language for non-unicode programs? I have already installed the files for East Asian Languages, but Chinese Text in programs still won’t show. Like in my Internet Explorer, chinese text in webpages show, but chinese text in the favourites menu don’t show, but instead come out in funny characters!

The software that came with the camera is not installing driver. Where can I download the driver? Websites welcome. Thank you.

my operating system is windows xp. It is taking a very long time to when I select drive clean up. I need to compress some old files as well as get rid of some. any suggestions

i cant install sound on board drivers, im using win xp, mobo p4m89-m7a, driver realtek alc861-vd hd, even if i follow instructions on screen, it still shows new found hardware pci, it btw the driver came from the mobo manufacturer, i cant get support from them (manufacturer) coz they’r chinese even if i translate it, it sucks, please somebody tell me what todo.

I got tow partition in my harddisk. C and D… And I installed Windows XP on partition C. But yesterday my stupid friend install another XP on partition D where I store my data. I want to remove the XP on the partition D without formattion that partition. How can I uninstall it? Is there any way I can uninstall?

I used stream recorder in Winamp to download mp3’s and I can’t seem to delete them with any program like ExplorerXP or Windirstat. There is no Delete, move or even a rename function. This also happened to some graphics JPGs from limewire. Nothing happens when I try to use the file. I removed them by moving everything else out of that folder then deleting the folder. Now I have a shortcut (with same problem)on the Desktop whitch is sh**ty because it won’t show up in windows explorer and I don’t want to delete the “Desktop” folder. This is rare, but its driving me NUTS! What’s happening and how do I stop/override this? These are not system/required/shared/owned files.
