I would like to remove the access to control panel to users, it is possibel with tweak xp and other utilities, so it must be possible to do it manualy, i would like to know if anyone knows how to do this… (microsoft windows xp pro)
p.s: it is a computer in a workgroup not in a domain so you can’t use domain GPO’s
The GPedit worked but it removes for all useres anyone know how to restrain it to just a gorups of internal users, like advanced users. or to just one user.
Just wanted ask if someone knew where i can download windows xp for free or buy it at a reasonable price. Thanks.
I just bought a HDMI-DVI cable to connect my PS3 to my Viewsonic VP181b monitor. It plugs in perfectly on both ends, the HDMI into the back of the PS3 and the DVI into the DVI port on the monitor. Now when i turn the monitor and the PS3 on, its seeming like perhaps the monitor senses the PS3 is connected but the screen is black with no display on it at all. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? It would help maybe if you looked over the following specs of this monitor:

and to the next question: i did switch the input, everytime i put it on DVI-D, it looks like it detects it but just the screen is black
I understand that the most XP 32 can recognize is around 3gb or RAM or so. I just built a new system, and I tried putting 64 bit OS on there, both vista and XP 64, however the driver compatibility after a week or so just started to get time consuming to find compatible software and drivers. So i rolled back to XP 32 bit since all software and drivers I use is fine on that OS. Is there anyway for XP 32 to recognize more then the 3gb limit or utilize more then that? I stuck 4gb in the machine, and it only reads 3.25 gb of it. Thanks for the help.
Hi ppl, can somebody help me out with this, yesterday i saw it and was really surprised. My computer is getting slower day by day. Other than formatting, what else can I do to get it back. The pc i am using is a dell dimension3000 desktop. Seems to me that some virus has attacked my pc. Being a multiple user pc, probably my brother screwed it up, i am not 2 sure about it.
Control panel is restricted by a registry entry. I have the START> RUN> REGEDIT part down.. I’m trying to update some drivers and need to enable the option to view the system icon if not all.. Thank You
I am the technical support specialist and this computer was imaged before I got here.. I would like to remove the registry entry for removing the icons from the control panel..
By default, Windows Vista reserves a obscene 15% of hard drive space for System Restore. Does anyone know how to adjust the size of system restore?
I installed Halo but had a re-ocurring error message. A quick fix was run the program under Windows XP Compatibility mode, the only problem is when I created my own shortcut to make the game run under High priority, it won’t allow me to run it in XP Comp. mode because it first runs cmd. Here is what I use to make a shortcut run in High priority: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start “runhigh” /HIGH “C:\Program Files\Halo\halo.exe”
Is there a command I can put in this shortcut to run in XP compatibility mode?
My computer is running very slow these days. When I power it down, I get all sorts of error messages saying various programs are not responding. However — I don’t have any progams like that running! I know there is a command that I can input into the run box in my Windows XP to view a list of everything that’s loaded at start up — but I cannot recall what it is.
There are a couple of people trying to sell Windows XP Pro stickers at bootleg prices. Is there a way for me to check if the stickers are genuine – just by looking at them – once they show it to me?
