My old win XP cam with 2 or 3 pieces of software for playing DVDs.
Latest win media player ver 11, asks you to pay to download a ‘bolt-on’.
VLC is ok and free download – but a backwards step by Microsoft ?
Hi,
both were DEL Laptops,
and yeah, I think VLC is great too.
In meant microsoft were taking a step back, but from wot u all say, looks like the DVD paying software was always an add on. Tried all the codec stuff – but no free solution other than VLC could I find !!
I meant, not in meant !!

Do I have to go to control panel? I usually keep the category view in Windows XP’s control panel window. I can change it to windows classic view, but I like the category view better since it was the default view. Do I have to go into user accounts inside the control panel?

Here is the problem..
i need to increase disc space of winxp partition as it’s recommended to have 20%free space at least in winxp partition.
Currently i have 3 partition magic soft-apps norton, powerquest and paragon ( pretty new version).Powerquest failed in the past to resize Winxp partition. Now i’m scared about using those partition magics cause my latest winxp installation cd is not bootable (incase my os fails to boot from HD )although bios is set for boot from optical drives(cd/dvd’s). Any useful ideas, please?

I think my Windows xp pro is counterfeit because my computer will not let me open up windows resources (ie media player, internet explorer, system restore, networking, etc). My computer was bought from a neighborhood pc store.

I want to install a new Windows XP (32) to replace my existing Windows XP (64), I would like to know how I could transfer my programs and Yahoo Messenger archives to the new installation.

I keep trying to download Yahoo! Messenger, but whenever it tries to install it always gets to 95% and then can’t go further. It prompts me saying, “The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\xmlparse.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation device.”
I’ve never had this problem before, and all my other messengers have been installed successfully, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what was causing it?
