Looking for something free. I very rarely look at DVD’s on my computer. Actually I very rarely look at DVD’s at all.

A friend recently installed a McAfee Total Protection software product & accepted all the options. When she then tried to access the internet following this she was unable to (using BT Broadband). I have previously found that McAfee Firewall can be a bit of a death trap and generally ditch it & just use the Win XP Firewall. HOWEVER – she uninstalled & reinstalled McAfee & since then the whole PC has died – GUIs not displaying (not just McA), programs stalling & never coming back…
We got a semblance of order and she can now reach the internet BUT – she has no AV (McAfee will neither install nor uninstall) and the Win Firewall does NOT show up in the Security Centre – SO – does anyone know if I can find the Win Firewall as an executable anywhere? Happy to mess in registry, Services etc. but not familiar with this precise item!

I have two Western Digital 37GB Raptor SATA drives installed in RAID 0. I later installed two WD 250GB SATA hard drives. The bios sees them, but windows XP does not recognize either drive. How do I configure the bios or operating system so that I can see these new drives under disk management or My Computer? The motherboard is a MSI Diamond Plus. The bios will allow me to configure another RAID array using these drives, but I only want to use the 250G drives for storage. Thanks much for any help!

When I had Windows 98 and opened a folder, the files in it displayed instantly. I noticed that they load much more slowly with Windows XP even when I disabled the Indexing command. Some folders I have contain thousands of files (average size of around 60 KB) and the more files in a folder, the longer it takes them to appear on the screen. Any more suggestions on how I can speed up the files displaying? Thanks.

My daughter inadvertantly caused our Laptop – running Windows XP – to switch itself off and “hibernate”. It’s done this before and then restarted ok ; however, this time, on pressing the on / off button – nothing !
Is this serious ? Is there a simple way of restarting the Laptop without losing information on the hard drive ??

i have very unusual problem…
im trying to install win xp pro
and its gives me an error:
your audio card didnot pass driver install logo…
this setup must end or continu without installing this driver…
but i cannot click any of the buttons im using usb keboard and mous(my pc doesnot have sp2 ports) they like turn off. and when im trying to connect another keyboard it the same all usb ports dead…(but before this error massage everithing works ok)….
