The HP computer won’t start and when it boots it says that some of the required files may be corrupt. My guess is, if I had my Windows XP install disks it would boot up and reload what it needs. I don’t have my Windows XP disk anymore.

I have a rather new Laptop, and I was wondering if it would be easy to upgrade to windows 7 from windows vista?
Also, would windows 7 run smoothly on my Laptop?
I have a 2.0 ghz intel core 2 duo processor and 4gb ram.
Would 7 work ok with my computer?
Would it be hard to install windows 7 (I have never installed an operating system before)?
Thanks
oh, and if I upgrade, will i lose all of my files?
