If the Yankees lose their remaining 6 games of the season and the Mariners win their remaining 7 games, they?

win 7

both will end the season with - 90-72 records. Will this cause a one game playoff or will the winner be decided based on who won the seasons most games against each other?

You forgot that if that happens the Tigers will probably win the wild card anyways so there will be no one game playoff…Go Tribe

One-game playoff at Yankee Stadium (site predetermined by coin flips a few weeks ago).
