Will giving the last 7 digits of your VIN be a security issue?

vin 7

I need to order this part off this website but they ask for the last 7 digits of my VIN to assure 100% that I’m given the correct BMW part. Would this be a security problem?

No. All it will tell them is when your car was produced, not the PIN for your bank accounts.

No, they use this in order to insure that you will get the right part. Sometimes there is a VIN split. There are vehicles that are the same year but during a period in the production they might have changed a part.

No Why would it be? you own the title or your bank dose…..It’s just to identify the parts for your car…

actually it will tell them absolutely nothing, last 6 are the production number, 7th to last is a balance number that is used to check for authenticity. all the ones before that are the information about the car. even if they know that theres not much they can do with it, just know where its made, make, engine size and production location
