I’m thinking about buying an HP Laptop with a 320GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive and would like to know how much it would cost to upgrade it to 7200RPM with similar GB (less or more, it doesn’t really matter). Would it be cheaper to buy in a retail store or to go online? Thanks for your help and answers!

WIN 7 UPGRADE

Can I safely upgrade my OS from Win XP (32) to Win XP Pro (64)? I have a Dell XPS 600 with 3.4 ghz?

win xp upgrade

I currently have 4-sticks of 1 GB RAM each (total 4 GB). But the XPS 600 will only recognize a max of 2 GB RAM unless I’m running Win XP Pro (64-bit). One IT person has already told me that upgrading an OS can cause some programs to stop functioning correctly and he doesn’t recommend it. Others say it’s ok to do it. I definitely don’t want Vista – too many bugs. And Dell’s customer support has proven worthless, so I’m really counting on your best answers here – thanks ;)

How can I integrate a RAID driver into Windows setup?

Tuesday 29 December 2009 @ 9:46 am
windows driver

I am planning to install windows onto a RAID configuration of mine, however the only option with a fresh install is to put the driver on a floppy disc and insert while going through the installation menu.

Now as you might assume, I do not have a floppy drive. Is there any other way to get the file there for it to recognize the drive during installation?

I already know how to integrate drivers with nLite but those don’t go in till durring the installation process.
I don’t have to worry about Vista, it already has this driver.

A Pavilion 7920 seems to run Win XP OK, Should I upgrade BIOS?

Monday 28 December 2009 @ 11:34 pm
win xp upgrade

I rebuilt a Pavilion 7920. I added an 80GB hard drive which was recognized fine, and installed Win XP Pro with SP/2 on that, installed MS-Office, and installed all updates with Windows Update. No known problems have occurred. I haven’t tried the CD/R/W drive yet. HP Support has a BIOS update which addresses XP compatibility. Should I install it even though things seem fine? Also, related question – how likely is it that attempting a BIOS upgrade on these will “turn it into a paperweight”? My Vaio FX-210 Notebook is considered iffy in that regard.
HP says that there is no risk to installing the BIOS upgrade.

I have a ASUS Notebook F3Ke and i wondering if its possible to upgrade my Laptop with a new graphics card or processor? Mainly to play games.
Ive heard people say that you can’t, and im guessing their saying that cause the card might be too big to fit in a Laptop. I don’t really care if my Laptops like half open and has some stuff sticking out lol… cause i don’t really ever use it as a Laptop…im just wondering is it possible in anyway to upgrade my Laptop?
