It’s the 990 model and I need the drivers for the USB connection. I misplaced the installation disk that came with the camera. I’ve already tried the store where I bought the camera, no luck. I’ve tried to locate access through the Sony website but it’s a bit cumbersome.
I’m willing to purchase said drivers but I can’t locate any to make an order. Any ideas?

I just came from Best Buy and after looking at all the camcorders they had I asked one of the electronic clerks if firewire camcorders were still available.
He told me that although they are still available they are no longer as popular because of the latest USB camcorders.
He went on to say that within the next 2 years firewire camcorders will slowly become dead technology and USB will dominate as far as camcorders connecting to PCs.
Is this true? And is this why all the latest camcorders only come with USB connections?

I had the thing working before. Windows Movie Maker accepted the camera and took the content. Now it won’t even read it. I know there are drivers out there. But the drivers on the panasonic website don’t work.

I have a Samsung VP D361 Mini DV camcorder and access to a couple of Laptops with XP and Vista. I have a 4 pin IEEE1394 cable to connect the camcorder DV port to the Laptop. I’ve downloaded the Samsung drivers, connected up and switched on.
The camcorder doesn’t show the ‘DV’ symbol on the display, Device Manager doesn’t show a camcorder under ‘Imaging’ or anywhere else and Windows Movie Maker can’t find a device anywhere. Both Laptops are the same.
Due to that and the missing DV symbol I guess the camcorder is the problem. Does anyone know what I have to do to make it see the DV cable is connected?
