I have windows xp and need to restore the factory setting but just on the network information any help?
I bought a Laptop and am trying to make it so that I can share files between the desktop and the Laptop, and also print from the Laptop directly to the printer that’s connected to the desktop.
I had a working LAN already with the printer sharing working fine.
Here is the setup:
A cable modem, connected to a linksys router, which has wifi enabled but also is connected via ethernet cable to the desktop PC (windows xp). The Laptop (Vista) can connect to the wireless network just fine but cannot see the desktop and therefore use any of its resources. The router assigns IPs to both comps just fine w/ dhcp and both comps can get online. Just can’t talk to each other for some reason.
As title, thanks.
I have two Windows XP computers and a Ubuntu computer both connected to the same ADSL modem/router. One of the XP computers has its folder set for sharing. The other XP computer can happily access the shared folder. How do I access that shared folder from Ubuntu?
Thanks.
I’ve recently recieved a new Laptop from work. I work from home sometimes and need to connect to the internet. My Laptop shows that I’m connected to the internet, however I can’t get any pages to download. I’ve disabled the firewalls on the computers, but to no avail. My old Laptop, I just plugged in wireless card and it connected fine. With the new Laptop, It won’t. What am i missing? Thanks!
I have a new wireless printer. I connected it fine to my Laptop at home running Vista, but can’t get it to connect to the Laptop in the office running Windows XP. I connect to the internet via a Three dongle, and don’t have a router in the office.
So 2 questions really - is it possible to connect my XP-Laptop to the printer - and if so - how?
I’ve read a bit about ad-hoc networks, but can’t work it out!
I’m trying to get internet on my friends Windows 7? Where is the network driver to get it to work. I already have a Linksys Adapter.
I have two Laptops. Laptop A is my home Laptop that is in some Home workspace. Another Laptop B is my work Laptop that is my corporate domain. When I bring Laptop B to home - there is no domain controller. So when I’m trying to access B from A it says that you can’t do that since there is no domain controller. I just want to share a printer that is connected to B. Is there a way to still doing that?
Question: What is KVM?
Actually I want to use applications at my Laptop, whereby, I want to use the additional processing power of my home computer. The two machines are connected using cross-over cable, or if required, I can use a hub or switch. So, please can any one tell me if I can use grid computing or parallel computing or any thing else to achieve this goal? And how and what can I do? Thanks for your kind efforts and cooperation.
The Laptop is wireless. I have installed the printer on the Laptop which clearly shows it. I leave the main computer on then press print on the Laptop. It comes up with an error message. The Laptop uses Vista, the main computer uses XP. I don’t want to use wires and the printer can’t be connected to the router via an ethernet cable. Is there a way to do what I am trying to do or do Vista and XP clash?
I am running Fedora Core 1 on my Laptop and would like to use my Microsoft mn-720 adapter to access the internet, but don’t know where to find drivers for it.
