I want to buy a new computer however it will mean a lot of work to keep all my files and settings. Is there an easier way to do this and are there any programs that can do this for me. Also what would happen if I upgraded a computer I had bought with Vista but not changing anything else like the hard drive will the computer automatically keep my files?

I recently upgraded my computer from a windows xp to a windows 7 and I had to do a custom install which erased everything, now I only have the option of color up to 16 bits though previously I had 32 . Would just a better graphics driver help or maybe a BIOS flash I don’t know. How do I make my color at least 32 bit again?

My computer is kinda of a old model It is a HP515n. It seems to be still running great The only thing I have installed in it is 1gig of memory. This is what I have on my computer now.2.3GHZ Intel Celeron Processor,1 gig of DDR-SDR memory,80 GB-of Ultra hard drive,64 MB of Integrated and extreme graphics. What can I do to make any upgrades or do I need to just invest in another computer?

I’ve got a cheap Dell computer that has an integrated graphics board. It’s the 82945G Express Chipset Family. It is pretty wimpy when it comes to running games. As luck would have it, there are many games that do run well that my children play. However some of the more serious games (like Bioshock) will not run. What’s the best way to upgrade this computer? I do not have a PCI-Express or AGP slot. ONLY PCI is available. Is it feasible? Recommendations?

I know what megabytes and gigabytes are, but how does megahertz or hertz in general mean when it comes to computing. I also notice that mhz and memory (along with a lot of other components) go hand in hand or one increases the efficiency of the other. Can someone please explain. Thanks.

My current Laptop is running Windows Vista, a 1.8 GHz AMD Turion 64×2 processor, 1982MB of RAM, DirectX 10, and the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150.
Btw, I am pretty computer illiterate haha. Now, Half-Life 2 runs fine at medium settings except for when there’s tons of smoke in the game. I recently bought Half-Life 2: Episode One but my computer has the hardest time running it, its practically unplayable with all the lag. I was wondering how much it would cost to upgrade my processor to the recommended 2.4GHz that the game recommends?
