I bought a 32″ LCD Monitor and hooked it up to my PC. I have the resolution set to 1280×768. It looks good except that the left side of the screen seems to be just a little cut off. To give you an idea…on the start icon at the bottom left, I can only see the green and yellow blocks of the microsoft flag. The red and blue blocks are cut off. My monitor has a button to move the image over to the right but when I do that, there is just black coming from the left…so it’s not that the image is bigger than the screen, it image is just cropped. I’ve tried all the other resolution setting with no luck. I have the monitor connected with the VGA cable. I have the option of using a DVI cable but would have to go buy one. Not sure what to do at this point.
The monitor is just Plug and Play. No drivers. It’s a Westinghouse LTV-32w3 HD
I’m wanting to purchase a lcd monitor, but one of the reviews someone stated that the monitor wasnt compatible with windows xp?I was told that the only thing you should be aware of is whether the connection was analog or dvi?If its analog then you shouldn’t have any problems hooking a lcd monitor to an older computer? So my question is, does the lcd monitors work with any windows, like windows xp? or is it just the connection port you should be aware of?
I’ve just bought a new pc and I need to install windows. however, i’m getting no signal to my monitor. is it because the output on the pc is incompatible with the single link plug on the monitor? i really don’t know what’s up. please help! thanks.
Trying to install windows vista on my new custom built computer? I have a Samsung syncmaster and all I see is a floating box that says check signal cable.
How DO I FIX THIS. Please Help
I have checked and double checked the connection of the DVI cables. I guess the Video card may not be in all the way or tight enough.
The thing that confuses me the most is that the there was a connection because I got to the windows intallation screen. A message said that windows would restart multiple times which never happened that I can remember. After the screen was blank for about an hour and half I got worried. So, I restarted the computer. Since then the monitor either says no signal or there’s just a flashing blue light
I have a GeForce 4 Mx440 (ASUS v9180) and can only use Windows XP on my Tandberg Ergoscan TFT monitor (on a DVI output) after booting into Windows on my CRT monitor (on an older style output). If I attempt to boot up with both monitors on and connected, the TFT’s screen is black and the CRT is black with blurry lines on.
I have a Samsung 906BW monitor. I have a VGA and DVI cable connected to my graphics card. Ever since I hooked my DVI cable, Windows XP thinks I am using dual monitors. I have one monitor and want to be able to switch between the DVI and VGA. My monitor has a source button with this capability.
Nevermind I figured out how to do it. In case anybody is wondering – there is a setting in the graphics card for “clone”. You can access this by clicking ADVANCED in DISPLAY PROPERTIES and hitting the tab for your graphics card.
I have a 24″ Dell WIDESCREEN and I want to add two matching Dell 19″ standard ratio monitors (which will be great for IE, Winamp, etc.). That way they will all be similar in height (17″ standard ratios on their sides are almost the perfect height, but a little narrow in that setup). I want them to all use DVI digital, not VGA. I don’t want sluggish performance. It is imperitive that Windows Vista sees these monitors individually, so I think that rules out Matrox cards since they will just span the desktop across three monitors. Is there one graphics card that I need to buy or should I buy 2 or 3 individually? Please be specific. Thanks so much for any help!
I have a Philips 32inch TV/Monitor the computer running Windows Vista is connected to the monitor via the DVI lead, the monitor will take the screen size 1280 x 768, but when I set the NVIDIA control panel to this size the monitor show a 20/30 pixel band down the left hand side of the screen, which is a repeat, or the part of the screen that is missing from the right hand side of the screen. Is there anything I can do to rectify this problem? If I jump up to 1280 x 800, the screen text is slightly blurb and uncomfortable on my eyes, and if I use other size settings, shapes are out of proportion and that is a problem as I am a web and graphics designer. If you could help with this problem I would be really grateful. Thank you for your help in advance in this matter. John
Hi there Jonathan. Thank you for your thoughts, that is what I thought the problem was BUT the old Computer I had had the same setting on to the same monitor, and did not do this problem, I feel it is a Software error but I don’t know how to get round it.
i have the DVi hookup on the monitor and the 6800xt should i use it…when i do i get some wierd lines on the screen only for one of my windows xp users lol no clue whats goin on BF2 runs like a beast. help me get rid of the lines please!!!!
Monitor: Gateway HD2201
Video Card: Geforce FX 5200
Even though the picture stretches past the edge of my screen, I can scroll to see the rest. I’ve been through the monitor settings, windows settings, and NVIDIA software settings. Nothing is changing unless I set the resolution to 1440×900. The native resolution of the monitor is 1680×1050. The video card supports MUCH higher resolutions.
Side note: I’m having problems with PIP also. The monitor is supposed to have it. If I have my video card set to multiple displays and connect the monitor through VGA and DVI, shouldn’t I be able to use PIP? The option isn’t even showing in the monitor menu.
Please no flaming…this is my first LCD. ![]()
60 is the only supported refresh rate for the monitor when in 1680×1050 using DVI. It’s been set to that. To me the image appears over-streached in 1680×1050. Wish the Geometry setting wasn’t grayed out in DVI.
