Hi All,
I posted the threat 6-7 months back and then gave up doing networking as the problem persist. Now i have formatted the hard drives of both systems and i was hoping that the networking will work fine because settings are default on both computers but unfortunately it did not happen.
This is my case. Im using two P4 computers named AAA and SSS. Both have lancard and they are connected via router for a single internet connection which works for one pc at a time. I tried to connect both PCs for file sharing but could not do it. I gave AAA ip: 192.168.0.1 and SSS 192.168.0.2. Subnet mask was 255.255.255.0. I also tried giving the primary dns same as the ip address of first (AAA) computer but it did not work. Whats happening here is that SSS can see AAA but cannot access it this error pops up “MSHOME not reachable. You may not have permission to access…………” but AAA cannot even open the workgroup. when i click “View Workgroup Computers” it gives me the above mentioned error. Interesting point is that symptoms of both computers are different although they both have new windows XP installed on them with the same CD and both have service pack 2. I have installed Avast Antivirus on both systems and i think it may be the root cause of the problem but still cant be sure and ofcourse dont know how to get out of it
File sharing is on, netbios over tcp IP enabled, firewall “off” on both PCS and workgroups are also same “mshome”. Both PCs can ping each other. SSS can see itself and AAA but it cannot access. AAA cannot even open the workgroup folder. I am sure that there is no hardware conflict bcz i have shared files b4 on these two computers without hardware change.
I have also tried the following:
1. gave admin right to all by giving command in cmd
net localgroup “Administrators” “NT Authority/Local Service” /add
Command was successfully entered in both PCs but nothing happened
2. Checked the value of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa
DWORD KEY “restrictanonymous” = 0
its zero on both PCs
3. Added a registry Entry named “IRPSTACKSIZE” and changed the decimal value to 15 on both PCs but again useless.
I have run the networking wizard on both machines numerous times. My intention is not to share internet on both machines but i wanna share files between them.
Please please please do help me.
Regards,
Ali
Here’s the message that I recieve: “No active audio mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, and click add hardware.” Of course when I try this, I’m asked to plug in my audio device. I’ve tried re-installing my audio drivers and/or rolling back the driver. This has worked in the past, but not now. I assume that there is a conflict with whatever new updates are being downloaded automatically from Windows. Any ideas on how I can first fix this problem and secondly stop it from happening again? I’m running Windows XP on a Sony Vaio desktop and the device driver is from Creative Audiology. Thanks!
I recently purchased a Bluetooth-enabled wireless headset / earpiece for my wireless Notebook. When I attempted to install the software, it said that it was not compatible with Windows Vista but was compatible with Windows XP. I called the headset Tech support and they said that ALL Bluetooth-enabled devices have this interface problem and the one to blame is the folks who came up with Windows Vista which apparently doesn’t support Bluetooth devices.
That sounds like a really big problem but I’ve only heard from the headset manufacturer. Is it general knowledge that Bluetooth-enabled devices won’t work with Windows Vista? If so, is there some kind of fix or download that Windows has come up with to address this major hardware conflict?
I mean I just bought a XFX Xg31i w/ Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3100, I also got a Radeon 4650 sonic DDR3, and I got some issues like I can’t install the Windows XP PRO SP2, I got a IRQL errors, so please tell me specifically what are the symptoms of hardware conflict and how do I disable my Integrated Graphics on this board. and while I’m installing Windows XP PRO SP2 I’m using my Radeon HD, I also tried using the Integrated graphics and the windows installation works just fine. I tried putting back my Radeon HD again and when I try to install the drivers, windows get corrupted like crashing and looping reboots. Need help here! don’t know what to do guys!
A Million Thanks!
I have an ATI Radeon & an ATI TV tuner card. The Radeon was added after the fact, everything that came with the computer is still inside.
The computer is a Gateway Media Center PC running XP Media Center. Windows Media Center won’t run as it complains about the video card (the Radeon) and I cannot use the S Video input to record things into the computer with various software.
The drivers are installed as far as I can tell:
ATI Unified AVStream Driver, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Media Control Devices
But my computer is missing drivers for:
SM Bus Controller, Unknown Device, Video Controller
I have restored the computer recently and many of the drivers needed for the factory installed hardware were not reinstalled. We found what we could and obviously installed drivers for post-purchase hardware.
I can open her up & grab model numbers if it becomes necessary…heh.
Any ideas as to what’s wrong or how I can better troubleshoot this?
I have had format my pc for many reasons since know but since the last week i have been facing a tottally knew problem for me the BSOD.It appears when enough regularly to make me angry. It appears when ever i am using almost any program, but i have mentioned that it happens when i am online.
Most things i’ve read about BSOD says to be a conflict with drivers or video cards generally hardware. But I have not change any hardware since i bought the pc at all.I am using Windows xp professional edition service pack 2.Any program tha i have installed, know tha i have the BSOD appears not responsible about the BSOD becayse before some formatts i have made, idid not have any problems with any of the software i am using right konw. The only thing software i am suspicious for the BSOD is the Vista transformation pack 6.0 that i have applied to my system since the last format.I am sure it is not a virus or a malware cause i am having the best antivirus, spyware but a poor firewall the ashampoo
So with the lack of a functioning monitor, and no USB mouse capabilities, I’m going to attempt to get a new Laptop sooner rather than later.
Basically what I’m looking for is a Laptop that can handle the newer games coming out. I’m not talking “ZOMG CRYSIS RECOMMENDED REQS” but being able to play generally newer games at a good framerate, namely Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, Civilization 4, or even Crysis with at least minimum requirements (I understand if this is a longshot, or even not capable with my price-range) and a few others (listed below) and hopefully StarCraft 2 whenever it comes out, without having to overhaul the computer at all. While price is not a terrible issue, I would prefer to keep it under $1300. I will almost definitely use my own mouse, and I have no need for a Blu-Ray burner, or anything fancy like that.
Games I would hope to play:
Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts – Recommended System Requirements
* Windows XP or Windows Vista
* 3.0GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent
* 1.0 GB RAM

When i plug in my iPod,camera, phone or anything i plug into the port, windows xp pro does not detect it. nothing pops up. ive gone into add new hardware and its only picking up the one on the back, not the one on the front(ive got a wireless card in the usb at the back). but when i was installing xp pro, it poped up with ‘windows xp cannot copy driver.cab’ does this have anything to do with the conflict? please give me a link to a driver or a tip on what to do. thanks
I AM GOING TO NEED A PROPER ANSWER SOON WITHOUT BUYING THINGS. I JUST NEED DRIVER, NOT ANYTHING YOU NEED TO BUY!
I have used Ares P2P shareware successfully in the past with few problems. Now with a new PC Notebook, I am trying to get one of the various downloadable versions of Ares to actually WORK on my new system.
After I down one Ares version, then I try to Search for files on the network. But the Search function frequently produces no results and stays stuck in Search mode until I stop it.
When I finally locate a file I want, I try to download it but the transfer progress is painfully much slower than my previous Ares version on my older computer. That older Laptop is now shot so I can’t boot it up to see which Ares version I had. My new Laptop is much faster with more RAM and hard drive space, so the hardware should not be the issue.
There is a new 2.0.9 version of Ares which promises all kinds of improvements to speed…but unlike the previous Free versions, v. 2.0.9 costs money as a subscription service.
One possible answer to my problem is that I’m now having to use Windows Vista (pre-installed on my new PC) whereas previously I was using Windows XP. Might Windows Vista be causing the problem or conflict?
I’ve also tried downloading with and without the Pop-up Blocker and Firewall enabled and still I get the same results.
So if you are experienced with Ares Galaxy, which version do you recommend that really works without all the delays?
Also note, I’m not tied to using Ares exclusively so if you can recommend an alternate P2P system that is free without all the search delays and slow downloads, your recommendation will be well appreciated. Thanks for your assistance!
My headphones which worked last night no longer output any sound. My sound software detects that I’ve plugged the headphones into the jack but when I play a song I don’t hear anything. Here are the things I’ve already tried to fix it. Any further suggestions would be very much appreciated.
-checked volume settings
-checked that all drivers are up to date and windows certified
-checked that sound devices are all enabled and working in device manager
-checked that there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
I have an ASUS P5B deluxe motherboard and am running Windows XP pro SP2
