This is regarding US v. Microsoft.
The court ordered Microsoft to split in to two companies (one for Windows, one for applications)
How will this affect the economy as a whole, Microsoft, consumers, the foreign market, and the competition (Apple, Linux, etc)?
Is it optimal for the economy?
What should be the limit of government intervention?
I currently have two acers, one with Windows XP and the other with linux, Is there any way of putting xp on the second netbook? I’ve read about using a usb data traveller and transferring xp from my other netbook. Would this work?

I’m not new to Linux but, and for this discussion only want reply’s relevant to windows 7 and windows xp, I do NOT care about vista statistics.
I wish there was some empirical data on Win 7 vs. Win XP as far as benchmarks are concerned – most of them I’ve seen online are Win 7 vs. Vista (with little or no mention of Win 7 vs. XP) – and face it vista sucks, so any benchmark comparing Vista to Win 7 isn’t worth squat. I want to see Win 7 vs. XP sp3 statistics on identical hardware. It would be cool if someone could make a good test of 7, perhaps using 2 systems a average consumer system, and a high end gaming system (I have found that gaming system benchmarks are suitable in sizing up an engineering workstation) but 2 systems are needed – with XP sp3 and Win 7 on both.
I’m looking for a new system and an trying to determine if win 7 is better than xp as far as performance – don’t care about bootup/shutdown times but purely on the terms of performance – personally I don’t care about a new ‘look’ or better GUI experience – I run engineering software, and as a hobby do a lot of video work. I also think I shouldn’t have to use an OS that requires 2G of ram (for example) or need a super fast CPU just to do basic stuff (i.e. as a minimum requirement). I’m sure we’d all prefer to use as little resources on the OS and base system and as much system resources (memory and CPU cycles) as possible for our programs (orcad, cadence, xilinx, video editing software, high end games, etc).
So after searching the net, I haven’t seen any really good comparisons – does anyone know where I might be able to find some relevant data that would suit my needs. I’m starting to wonder nobody has directly compared the 2 (xp to w7) – sure there is the argument some may make – ‘don’t try to fix something if it isn’t broken’ – but hey XP is old – and ill give it a fair chance, perhaps it’s worth an update (fresh install).
Comments?
And is it possible to resize after wards without using 3rd party software or else give name to for best software
P.S
What are the cons and pros of linux
Is possible to change size of partition while installing win7 whithout formatting

For people who have tried the Windows 7 beta, is Windows 7 by far the best operating system you have ever seen?
I think it is. It is so much faster, more secure, and better than any other operating system currently available. How many years will it take for Linux or Mac to catch up to Windows 7?
I just got my hands on windows 7. Do not ask me how I got it, anyways I installed it on my virtual pc. It is nobetter than that of vista. I hate vista. It is in the beta stages. What are we going to do if we keep having microsoft giving us garbage. What is there besides mac? I also hate mac with a passion. Is ubuntu and linux? What can linux do. Can it do the things windows can do like with media center.
Ok, so I have a crappy computer with Windows XP on it and I want to wipe it clean of all files and apps and everything. Then, I want to install my Windows XP again (I have the CD with me), and then eventually install Linux Ubuntu as a dual boot but I can worry about that later. If anyone can help I will be grateful.
